![]() Our tour guide Owen let us know that despite the similar look to champagne, cava isn’t just for celebratory occasions. Here we sampled jamón ibérico, fuet (a unique thinly sliced sausage), chorizo, manchego cheese, tortilla de patatas, pan con tomate, artisanal vermouth and a glass of cava. We began the evening at Bar del Pi, a bar founded in 1927. ![]() The Devour Food Tour website states that there’s just one ground rule for visiting Spain: not to leave without trying the jamón ibérico! And boy is this a fantastic recommendation. This option wouldn’t have been needed with the Tapas, Taverns, and History Tour that we took since we found there to be an ample amount of alcohol, with several beverages at every stop.Īs for the food, all tours can be adapted to for most diets but for specific needs it may be best to reach out to get an idea of what offerings would be available. For those that prefer the daytime hours but do want to sample Spanish beverages, the tour does include sampling of some alcohol but also offers a “Full Beverage Upgrade” that you can add on to the cost of your ticket. There’s another evening tour called the Barcelona Gourmet Tapas & Wine Tasting Tour that features tapas and wine as well as a daytime tour that seems to feature a bit less alcohol and could be great for those that don’t drink. If it weren’t for this entertaining and delicious tour, I would have been sound asleep in our hotel room by 6pm then wide awake in the middle of the night, thinking I was still on eastern standard time. The tour lasts for 3 hours and 30 minutes which seems like a large time commitment, but trust me when I say that it will fly by! The later start time of this evening tour made it perfect for our first day in Spain when we were trying to stay up late to combat jetlag. Lucky for us, the Tapas, Taverns, and History Tour was available which is probably the one we would have chosen anyway. We booked our trip so last minute that we didn’t have many times or tour types to choose from. We felt immersed in the culture and certainly got our money’s worth when it came to food and drink! Read on to get more details on our specific tour. Our experience was stellar from end to end. ![]() Devour has tours in Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, and the UK and a passion for connecting tourists to the local culture in each of their respective locations. After watching a ton of YouTube videos and finally being convinced, we tried Devour Tours for the first time. On a trip to Barcelona, Spain in fall of last year we did just that. So we often maximize our time with guided tours (most often food tours) to check out a bunch of local spots in a really short period of time. To be honest, our couples adventures are usually very short - maybe a long weekend at best. The second thing is that we look for an amazing food and beverage tour where we can learn about the local culture, eat, and drink all at the same time. First, we find the top rated bar in the area - we’re looking at you, Paradiso. But when we do, there are a few things that we absolutely look to do. We don’t get to do kids-free trips often.
